Well we have news that:
W/SW
Sector Yellow Badge Drivers will mount a legal challenge for the right to ply
for hire at Heathrow.
'Cant happen', 'Its the bye law' etc.
etc. will all have been said by the faces in the past, but that was
then and this is now, after all it works at LCA does it not?
Initial legal soundings indicate a very
good prospect of success for the challenge.
Possible outcomes:
1. The 'Status Quo' remains and
nothing changes.
(unlikely as the
YB's will just quote the LCA as an example and that they do the 'inners' and
that that many jobs are either local or out of the Met).
2. The YB's can put on just like the GB Drivers.
(More income for BAA/NSL which
will also see the scrapping of the 'local' ticket.)
3. BAA decide the cab trade ain't worth
the candle anymore as its all grief and give the supply contract to
PH consortia.
('Cant happen'? It did in Manchester and
maybe Addi Lee and others are big enough to take it on. For those who say they
cant cope if Code Red, cast your mind back to the demos when the Feeder Park
Charges came in, Plenty of our fellow cab drivers broke the 'blockade', they
will no doubt be happy to 'help out' wearing a cheap suit!)
So Boys and Girls, if in the months to
come 000's more drivers appear in town as the 'Flyers' is finished, you
may wish to read a back issue of The Badge whilst waiting past the roundabout
at Waterloo or in Gillinghan Street for the Vic and ask yourselves 'how
did all this come about'?
Look no further that the 'Biscuit
factory and Taxi House.
Late this morning the Anderson Shelter reached half a million hits on the counter which had to be reset (due to technical problems, in January 2009. Big smiles all round.
Thank you for your loyalty, we will endeavour to keep bringing uncensored news coverage of the real issues facing your livelihood.

In the short term it would be attractive for the yellows to have Heathrow, but opening it up to them would cause everyone who has ever unsuccessfully tried to become a green badge to sign up for the southwestern knowledge, so within two years yellow badge wages would fall back to current levels and green badges would have lost the airport. Since a lot of the new flood of yellow badges would be current minicab drivers, in effect the airport would have been taken off the green badges and given straight to today's minicab drivers. The feeder park would probably have to be enlarged, since yellow badges would be willing to wait a lot longer for a job than green badges would.
ReplyDeleteAfter years as a yellow badge I've just finished the green badge, mainly because I wanted to work Heathrow. You gotta laugh, eh?
Fact Heathrow Airport is in a Yellow Badge Area .Their is a lot of Nonsense about this Trade . A green badge learns the knowledge , well done . But at the end of the Day you are a Taxi Driver , a Surburban Yellow Badge is a Taxi Driver . Both are ripped off by anyone that is connected to the trade . Look its worked Green Badges against Yellow Badges . Whilst Mr Mini Cab is getting all the Work . Remember when it was busy . Green Badges passing work back to a yellow badge . In the Busy times we all earned enough but now its hard times . Too many Mini Cabs to Blame . So lets be better than the Yellow Badge . A few quick comments etc etc .
ReplyDeleteBut to those who know it all the Green Badges will not be immune to Addison Lee etc etc . Now they have the Suburbs its like a disease it will spread , and who will defend you . Answer No one .
AS THE RMT HAS HAD A LOT OF YELLOW BADGES JOIN IN RECENT WEEKS ARE THEY BACKING AND FUNDING THE CHALLENGE OVER TO YOU MR TINNION
ReplyDeleteSo we are beibg asked to accept that a few Yellow Badge Drivers are going to find at least £100k or more to mount this legal challange. And if they loose they will have to pay BAA'S costs as well. They will mortgage and gamble their houses in the name of justice for now and all their future yellow badge brothers to right this terrible wrong.
ReplyDeleteAs to the merits of any challange they will be dogged with why now, why not 40 years ago etc....this challange would fail at the first hurdle which would be counsels opinion.
Since lord protector Oliver Cromwell said taxi drivers in London need to to the knowledge of London , we have seen many people come in through back doors and loop holes from mini cabs to pedi cabs to motorbike cabs and yellow badges . They are all second rate wannabes out to destroy this great trade.....so of course Addison lee and the yellow badges are after heathrow .maybe we should claim back green badge island ranks clapham , putney fins bury park incuding golders green and Brent cross what are both in the 6 mile radius ...so legally green badge ranks.
ReplyDeletewhy have the ybs waited until the stickers came about before they mounted a legal challenge to rank up at heathrow?what have the stickers changed to their way of working which has made them do this?have their sectors been changed or made smaller?last time i checked the only difference to our jobs both grren and yellow is a sticker in the front and back windows of our cabs.or have i missed something here?this constant up in arms by the ybs is getting to the point where even the ucg must be wondering what their motives are.fact is the problems with the touts is huge and needs to be dealt with but theres an old saying"clean up your own backyard before you go knocking on your neighbours door".
ReplyDeleteFar from blaming LCDC, LTDA and UNITE if Heathrow goes yellow I would blame people like you, AS, RMT, UCG and LTDF.
ReplyDeleteThis group have consistently agitated for yb’s and massaged discontent within the yellow sectors.
The Anderson Shelter and LTDF consistently remove green badge inputs challenging yellow badge aspirations to work out of sector whilst allowing massive flow of yellow badge comments. If a green badge counters the yellow demands they are deemed as agitators and are removed.
I have had a number of posts censored on Anderson Shelter ( the last one a few days ago that answered Mike Tinnion) All the posts were decent and non abusive.
Anon 02:37... More lies from a club member ,The Rmt has nothing to do with Heathrow as for Yb members i been a member a long tome now the reason yb are joining the rmt is because they are leaving the ltda ! "splitter "
ReplyDeleteWell Anon 12:27 if you post was deleted it must have contained something that caused one of our moderators to delete it.

We do try to post ever decent comment from all sides but technology sone times kicks back and we don't receive postings.

A Yellow Badge does the knowledge . A Green Badge does more knowledge . In the scheme of Life its a Ordinary Job .
ReplyDeleteWhen a Yellow Badge voices an Opinion a Green will sometimes give the standard answer . So When a group of yellow drivers decide to say look ?
Stations the ranks are not protected . I beleive in London Green Badge drivers dont get Airports Addison Lee gets the Account Jobs now .
Has any one ever considered some people dont want to do the Green Badge . They are happy being a Surburban Driver .
But the problem is everyone thinks they are selling Fruit on a market stall . Shout the loudest use a argument .
The Trade is dire . London Taxi company cannot even make a profit operating a cartel of one vehicle.
The Stickers are Here to stay . Its not about the stickers its about no representation . People taking money and doing nothing . Having a Yellow Sticker does not effect anything . We have all been allowed to think we are being looked after . The Truth is We have No Friends out their . Yellows Today . Greens Tommorrow .
It has come to our attention that a lot of the more negative posts, insulting the RMT, UCG and Anderson Shelter staff, are coming from the same IP address that is registered to a certain trade org.
ReplyDeleteIf this persists we will publish all our evidence Bob, so please refrain from this form of propaganda.
Clapham is not a island rank ,It available to certain ybs that have done the Knowledge for that area .Again and again we see gb not know the knowledge of yb areas which will cause trouble again,Well the club and tfl have really divided the trade, we wait for the rule bit soon.
ReplyDeletethe RMT/UCG have both put out official statements against the IDs, they are on the YBs side on this one and in recent weeks have recruited a good number of YB drivers.
ReplyDeleteScare stories like the above really don't wash, anderson shelter has lost all my respect and this will be the last time i look in, i expect this post to be deleted as most of my posts are.
From the amount if comments you recive on every identifiers post just goes to show the vast majority of gb s drivers think it is a brilliant move. So can you do everyone a favour stop trying to dictate to us.
ReplyDeleteYes the RMT etc are doing something positive . I suspect that Addison Flee etc etc will post Rubbish .
ReplyDeleteI congratulate you on your Forum
Any chance of posting my comment

ReplyDeleteYours was a post we have been expecting
Yes there are a lot of comments on ID issues but 90% of these have come from just three different IP addresses

ReplyDeleteI have posted everything we have received today

Ever tried to get a comment posted on the LCDC Blog... If its not blowing smoke up Grants back side
ReplyDeleteIt don't get a look in
Still, what else would you expect From this unelected bunch of empire builders and brown noses
Perhaps if you was to lobby cabbies on ranks regarding ids you would see the positive feed back. Haven't spoke to one driver who's against them.

ReplyDeleteI am not a club member.
You say that yb’s are joining the RMT as they are leaving the LTDA. Now think about it for a minute: the RMT has stated it is democratic and acts on its members wishes, so more yb members than gb = what, democracy of the larger grouping holding sway? So why would the RMT not act on yb’s demands. If yellow badges are pushing for Heathrow and other wishes such as working London when there is ‘high demand’ (that they claim GB cannot meet etc) What is the democratic RMT going to do?
Same goes for the UCG.

My post was a reply to Mike Tinnion and it asks, as he puts his name to everything, would he put his name to a break down of how many yellow badge members the RMT have and how many GB’s members the RMT have.
Travis B's post was not about the identifiers, it was about the continued lack of support for YB issues nad that the identifier is yet another imposition on ALL of us whilst PH laugh.
ReplyDeleteAs for LAP, Can anyone tell me the difference between YB's ranking at LCA and Heathrow?
Answer none.
Forget 40 years ago etc. LCA and PH licensing have changed the landscape. that why Steve M its now.
Ive never really known what to make of TtT or the ucg not knowing if there good for the trade or not. over the last couple of weeks I believe you've shown your true colours especially the picture of Semtex with dog, could be very damaging trade if someone like Diane Abbott got wind of it. Perhaps the editor shouldn't of givent it the green light. From a non affiliated driver.

ReplyDeleteCan you read?
The UCG is opposed to ANYONE working outside their licensed area be they Green, Yellow or Private Hire.
These identifiers are pointless because there is very little enforcement.
70,000 scabs are stealing our work every day and night and guess what, there is nobody to stop them either.
Identifiers with 100 enforcement officers - Bring it on.
Identifiers on their own - what's the point!
You lot have been sold a turkey and you've bought it.
The UCG and the RMT are not that gullible.
The LCDC are!
So the UCG and RMT are against anyone working outside of their area. This sounds like a play with words and is misleading. Reading between the lines, all of the so called editorial staff on this blog are UCG/RMT and each and everyone of them bending over backwards to identify individual comment posters on this blog. I would say this makes them very pro-identifier indeed.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, lets see what project the undemocratic UCG will throw any subscription monies they may get coming in, if the Yellows make a play for the airport ? Hendy and Mason will work overtime to deliver the coup de grĂ¢ce and finish the cab trade off. Not gullible, my arse !
martin, they are not pointless. 95% of gbs welcome them, if ybs are seen picking up at liverpool st, hammersmith, paddington or on the street, they know they will get reported.
ReplyDeletermt/ucg have a 1 badge = 1 vote policy which they pride themselves on. it would appear that they have more yellows than greens?
Editor would you in favour of these I'f the badge number wasn't so prominment, because it sounds as if nothing would please you which I find staggering.
ReplyDeleteEditor your are dead right it does say it all. It just how passionate gb are when it comes to yb s working the same as me and you.
ReplyDeleteMasons vinegar strokes
ReplyDeleteFor your information the editorial staff on the Anderson Shelter are made up from 1 RMT membe, 1 UCG member, 1 LTDA member ( although cancelling membership shortly) and myself.
I TtT belong to both the RMT and the UCG
Contributors to the blog have come from both unions and all orgs ( including LCDC)
Secondly, why are you worried what the UCG decided to spend there money on. Have you ever questioned what the LCDC, LTDA or Unite spend their money on ?
Anon 20:46
ReplyDeleteI will only be infavour of badge colour identifiers being clearly displayed if.
The badge number was removed
The requirement for PHVs to display their roundals "clearly was implemented.
And the taxi checker website did not identify the name of a driver.
It has been proved that full address can be obtained using software 192.com from a drivers name including middle name
.
Reason for this is the passengers we pick up are untraceable unlike PH who should have full details of every passenger.
We have to look after the safety on the many women drivers who could be targeted by perverts
Especially in light of the way TfL have responded to the unacceptable amounts of sexual assaults and rapes oc coring in Minicabs ( they just ignore)
Also I believe this issue was a complete waste of licensing buget that could have been used better
on new rank spaces or enforcement!

Just listen to yourselves for f*cks sake!!!
ReplyDelete30 comments on the same old yellow V green debate. Never in my years driving a taxi have i ever seen the trade so turned on itself as at this point. The trade is imploding and giving ALL our true enemies all the ammo they need to drag us further and further into the mire whilst we all fight each other.
These identifiers have created more tension and hatred by cabbies towards cabbies than i've ever seen directed towards the true enemy out there - the touts who openly steal our work off the streets and from hotel forecourts night and day. That is where the vitriol should be directed. That is where the enforcement should be spending their time but instead they play a trump card with these ID's and suddenly it's dog eat dog and we tear each other apart.
Come on guys, if each of you used as much energy fighting the true enemy out there we could be a truly formidable force and pretty much untouchable instead you're playing into the hands of Hendy and Mason and probably giving that cretin Livingstone a good laugh.
The mayoral race is on this year, in a few months we could see the return of King Newt and with that his work of dividing the taxi trade nigh on complete with nothing left for him to do but deliver the coup de grace-this has been engineered by his snivelling sidekick Hendy working to an alternative agenda while BoJo the clown dozes.
We will be caught in the headlights with no where to run if Livingstone gets in and his revenge for the last mayoral race will be swift, sudden and ruthless. This divide and rule tactic is just the first phase and i expect even more divisive moves by TfL in the near future.
If we don't stand together today, we will surely fall together tomorrow.
Hope a change for the better is on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteI added some animation overlaid with audio from the dispatcher and drivers to my blog.

Having received my I'd card I am a bit concerned that it looks like it was made on the cheap from a recycled cornflakes packet with not even a anti fraud hologram silver tab , if you share a cab I don't think it will last removing it every day, We should have been given a badge holder to fix to the wind screen andslipped are badges into it. At least the badge you can't photo copy and are hard wearing ,,, or at least make the I'd s. Out of plastic and with a hologram ....
ReplyDeleteStreet Urchin that is one of the most sensible posts on this blog.
ReplyDeleteA useless ineffective scheme has led to nothing but infighting.
Jackpot for the authorities!
It certainly covers up their ineptitude that's for sure.
Meanwhile, 2 more females will be sexually assaulted in minicabs this week.
Hi I am a taxi mechanic 22 yrs old and was considering the knowledge, I am so put off by joining this trade i assume i would be spending my career depressed and worried about affairs, why do bus drivers never complain on 300 a week? , If your not supporting your brothers then whos supporting you? come on give us a future gbs and ybs
ReplyDeleteWe need a Sensible business person to Put a case forward to Improove Yellow Badges areas . And the person to speak to is Boris Johnson . Ranks need to be added or moved . Even a Radio Circuit or Just Taxis to have work for Surburban drivers . Shouting Crying Getting Angry slagging people off achieves nothing . If Boris Johnson could get a new bus built . If London can host the Olympics . Then we are not finished yet . All we have at present is anger , no good . So to all Taxi Drivers rather than blame each other we should unite . Why are Taxis not allowed in Bus Lanes during Olympics . Does Boris Johnson even know what is happening to our trade . Contact Him . He is the Mayor he was Voted In . He must Listen . A man that went to Eaton , will have the capacity to Help .
ReplyDeleteI have contacted bj and all the other usual suspects time and time again regarding variuos trade related issues as have many other taxi drivers. So, YOU contact him and YOU find out for yourself how helpful he is.
