Sack Boris....By David Davies.

I was not surprised at all to read about the changes that TFL are making.

I have clearly stated my views previously with regards to TFL, they are supposed to be a Public Body yet all they do is leach taxpayers money in return for acting unlawfully and improperly.

In 2009, Hendy was Paid £348,444. plus £61,466 bonus [1]
A recent article in The Standard showed that 379 TFL employees are paid in excess of £100k

That would be obscene for a public body which is doing a good job; for this bunch who are making unlawful and improper decisions, it is criminal.

London Taxi Drivers backed Boris for his election yet he is the man who is ultimately responsible. Members of Parliament and London Assembly Members have asked the Mayor questions about the improper conduct of TFL, month in month out. He has either sidestepped or ignored any questions for the last 2 years. He has effectively covered up their improper conduct.

The Mayor has stated that 4267 people a year are dying from pollution and that 30% of that is attributed to taxis, yet he has conducted no emissions testing to prove exactly what the emissions from taxis are. Instead he has approved an age limit for taxis which is unlawful and improper;

It goes against best practice advice from the Department of Transport and will actually not have any effect on reducing emissions. It will only serve to put taxi drivers at a commercial disadvantage and the 2 companies selling new taxis at a commercial advantage.

TFL as an entity should not be allowed to continue to exist in its current format. The Mayor should be sacked for failing to comply with his Duty of Care to implement proper and effective Policies instead he has done nothing, allowing thousands of people to die from pollution and then blaming taxi drivers. He could have implemented an engine clean up program or a program to replace older taxi engines with newer Euro 5 engines at a subsidised cost. Perhaps that may not result in anyone at TFL earning a commission so it would not be worth considering !

It is not just one decision or policy that is wrong it is the system that is in place which allows TFL to act in an improper way.

The only way to stop a dictatorship is to protest until the Government change it. The only way the London Taxi Trade will survive is to organise and take action immediately. Any issues about which trade organisation you belong to should be ignored and action taken.

Taxi Drivers should ask their local MP for a Public Inquiry into the improper conduct of TFL, which is resulting in deaths every week from pollution (because of their ineffective policies). Those MPs would then have to take action.

TFL are blaming Taxis for the deaths from pollution and then implementing improper policies to persecute the Taxi trade. It is actually The Mayor and TFL themselves that are to blame for not implementing proper and effective strategies across the board to reduce emissions.

  1. TfL today pointed to a series of achievements to justify its executive pay, including the launch of the Mayor's "Boris bikes"

Yes what a success that was, £16,000 set up cost for each bike and currently costing £5 for every £1 taken in revenue.

Maybe we need to call in Inspector Knacker?

    Is this corporate manslaughter?

  3. Masons pay grade is about £170,000.
He is paid solely to take the bullets for Ken and Hendy's agenda, keep the trade fragmented and string along the UTG.
Not bad money for an ex bailiff.

  4. As Mason not a director, I suppose he was allowed to keep his performance related pay bonus
Something in the region of £65k

Wonder if he still has the complimentary Addi Lee account to ferry him about?
