After the affective flash mob demonstration, hurriedly arranged by the United Cabbies Group last Friday, TfL (who still refuse to consult with the trades second largest representative group) in a panic, called the LTDA to discuss the issue, even though Bob Oddy (general secretary) knew nothing about what was happening.
From an article in the Evening Standard it is believe that the LTDA have accepted (on your behalf) a commitment not to disrupt next years Olympic Games for access to a third of the Olympic Rout Network (ORN), much to the distaste of John Griffin and other minicab bosses.
In the article, it states that exemptions to the ban could include letting cabbies use a third of the network where lanes are shared with buses, plus be able to make right turns along the Marylebone Road for access to the West End.
TfL are also looking at ways to make it easier to drop off and pick up along Park Lane (Probably in the same way they were going to look at minicabs parking on our ranks in Park Lane...ie Still looking)
So Where Was Oddy and Masset Last Friday?

I see in a crisis TfL only deal with LTDA. The UTG's Grant Davis and Jim Kelly suddenly became also ran's
ReplyDeleteNo commitment from me (or you?), No quarter on this one.
ReplyDelete100% access or nothing.
BLOCKADE!
Yet another spin exercise from LTDA and TfL. I bet Grant Mason is already on the phone to Codfather John Mason saying what about me I need the PR?
Pitiful aint it!
it is amazing that after the Aldwych demo TfL announce a consultation
ReplyDeleteAfter one tiny demo outside the St Pauls Grange they offer 30% of the lanes
both times it is the UCG who bring this about and both times they deal with Oddy
idiots, you need to be dealing with the organ grinder
now that you've seen, what one small DEMO is capable of producing:
ReplyDeletekeep up the momentum - don't accept crumbs
DEMAND 100% of Road Usage
DEMAND, that LAWS are ENFORCED re TOUTING - Parisian Cab Drivers would never have allowed, this state of affairs
DEMAND, that mini-scum are treated EXACTLY as that & as nothing else
NO MORE, PUSSY FOOTING - YOU'VE NOW SEEN, WHAT WORKS
Agree with everything said so far.
ReplyDeleteNOW IS THE TIME.....
Imagine if the ddemo at the Grange was in October 2012 - they would be saying "yeah righto boys
Jog On", this is the time to go for broke !!!!
Amazing! A demo at 4pm Fri and the Olympic organisers talk to TfL get a meeting with the LTDA organised and get it signed and delivered and in the Standard for 11am Weds!
ReplyDeleteTruly Amazing speed

ReplyDeleteYes it was that fast! it just goes to show how paranoid they are about the games.
The UCG acted where the UTG sit on their hands.
Oddy is furious that the moment was taken by drivers freely volunteering on behalf of the trade.
We now know that Steve Mac was there taking photos on stand down pay.
The so called powers that be must have shit themselves at how quick this demo was organized,
ReplyDeleteNo time for prepared statements or anything.
So now they know what we are capable of,maybe its time we stopped asking for meetings with them,
Maybe its time they start asking for meetings with us.Or the threat of more to follow.
Its time they realise the majority have no respect for Oddy or the groups that they will only consult with
I find it hard to believe that TPHL and TFL dont monitor this site,
ReplyDeleteSo why did they get in touch with ODDY and the LTDA, Well let me spell it out to them,ODDY can promise what he likes,But as the majority of cab drivers take no notice of a word he says his promises dont mean a thing. If the UCG call a demo I will be there.Surely they realise by now,as far as most cab drivers are concerned ODDY and the LTDA are a joke.
