Travis B writes: A quote from TfL in Wonderland.

A quote from TfL in Wonderland:

'Black cabs account for around a quarter of PM10 emissions in central London with up to 15 per cent of that estimated to be as a result of taxi drivers leaving their engines idling when stationary'.
If this were true and nobody can prove it, as TfL do not know how much fuel or mileage we do and he could reduce PM10's by 25% at a stroke, Boris would buy us all a new cab tomorrow!

Are you dear reader like me and everyone else sick and tired of being lied to!
Maybe we need instead some bullshit repellant sprayed onto the road outside Palestra, Windsor House and City Hall?
Eco Marshals!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Editorial Comment:
As we have said many times before, this is no more than made up science.

Boris, show us your scientific evidence???
In our next post we will be publishing our evidence!!!

Your figures do not add up because they amount to no more than the guesstimates of fools.
Our evidence will be from an accredited source.

We have good reason to believe that the work done by these so called "Eco Marshals" is actually
adding to more emissions of PM10's.
No money for enforcement, but TfL find enough to pay the wages of Eco Marshals.

So, Peter Hendy and John Mason think its more important for Taxis to switch off their engines while on licensed Taxi ranks, than to protect women at night against sexual predators.

  1. I would kick this argument off. However, bullshit is acceptable in your editorial. But balls and talking bollocks isn't, and you edit!

On one hand the Anderson Shelter has more balls than the rest put together. On the other, you should let fair play and righteous comment hit the fan.... thank you x

As Bernie May often says in Taxi Talk, once again we have 'assumed the position'.

And the UTG said in protest:.............

Hello, Hello is there anyone there?

  3. I never had the slightest intrest or wanted to know anything about CUBA,But listening to Big George at night forced me to understand what happens there. As every night Cuban Tony would come on air and rattle on.I used to think not this boring c%%% again,But the point is I was forced to listen and some things went in,Now imagine if all of us forced our passengers to listen what TFL is really up to,the rapes, money wasted the lot,It would sink in,maybe this is a much better way of getting it over exactly how the likes of Peter Hendy and co,waste thier council tax,and put thier daughters at risk from rapists etc.

  5. Anon!
Quote "On the other, you should let fair play and righteous comment hit the fan."

Whilst we do our best to post most sensible comments, we will always draw the line at unfair anonymous attacks calling people "Traitors".
Put a recognisable name on the comment and we may post.
While we may see it as appropriate to post some profaneness, other times it can not be justified.

  6. They do know the mileage we do, as does the taxman, care of your annual SGS test with recorded mileage! They know how many cabs there are and how many greens and yellows. They also have vehicle counts both manual and electronic via TfL number plate recognition cameras.
Its not rocket science with this data along with the known outputs of the various cabs (again they have the figures) to work out what we are responsible for.
Read their reports they are online, they do not say we are responsible for 30% of CO2 or NOX, they say we are responsible for 30% of traffic created CO2. In effect about 8% of total london produced pollutants (at least 25% of London air pollutants comes from outside).
If you do not do your homework you will look silly, and do our cause more harm than good. The UTG reports (compiled by various scientists are also available online (see submissions) These have to be the starting point for any argument. A few cabbies saying "We don't think its right" when the figures are pretty much right will make the trade a laughing stock.

Contest the decisions, put forward economic and political arguments but unless you have acreditited scientific research disproving TfL figures (because they are proven!) you will get nowhere!

  7. so, if what Boris is saying re us, CAUSING POLUTION, is true - why then, is he CAUSING US TO MAKE MORE

that is, by not letting us use THE OLYMPIC LANES?

  8. Lets face facts,as a trade we have had it,But PHV is not to blame. The only people thats to blame are us,Because where they fight fire with fire,we sit back and take it.Its no good waiting for the LTDA,UNITE,RMT,or UNITE to act as we know they wont.Thats been proven time and time again,It seems the only one thats prepared to do anything are the UCG,But they dont have the financial clout to act.
Very soon we will have a new comissioner of Police,Now wouldnt it be great if one of the first things he opened was a summons to appear in court for failing to do his duty,We could also slap one of these on Westminster council,I mean we have enough video evidence to prove they are turning a blind eye to touting.
The problen is funding such action,So I suggest a bucket fund say £5,from each driver,I expect a lot of you will now be thinking "drivers wont pay that" So I suggest as a driver donates he his given a sticker for his/her windscreen saying "I donated" This will not only stop that driver being asked again,But will also stop the drivers that talk a good fight but actually leave it to everyone else.

  9. So TAXI ranks are going to get eco marshalls to stop Taxis having thier engines idling. So put me right here,In January, one of the coldest, quietest months,I am expected to sit in a freezing cab[remember the first 3 cabs must have the driver inside ready for hire].So surely I am being forced to work in unacceptable conditions. Now if I worked in a freezing factory, simply because the guvnor refused to put the heating on stating it was to save the emissions he would be dragged through the courts,And probaly made to pay out compensation,What makes us any different.

  10. Silly Billy The Cabbie:

Its no good answering our question with answers from a completely seperate argument!

Plus your figures quoted are inaccurate.

This is a complex argument that Boris has tried to simplify by bringing in measures that sound good to the uninformed like yourself.

For that reason we have seen fit not to post your comment.
