What would be your answer to this scenario?
A young girl on a night out does as you both suggest and books a minicab. She is told its on its way, so she goes outside. A licensed mini cab pulls up, she is very cautious and checks the roundel to make sure he is a LICENSED MINICAB. Yes there are both roundel and pre booked stickers on windscreen so its all legal.
She gets in and 10 min's later she has a split lip and is being raped.
The driver who is a convicted rapist, has only been out a week after serving 6 years. Yet he is legally driving the vehicle.
How can this happen?
Its simple really... He bought the vehicle quite legally with the unexpired roundel still in place.
If Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy and Director of London Taxis and Private Hire John Mason, do not demand the return of such roundels when the vehicle is sold, then they alone must accept responsibility for the victims of these sexual predators.
There's a place in Granby Terrace, part of a very well known minicab firm, that sells many of these vehicles complete with roundels in place, to anyone with the cash!
The Law needs to be changed to stop this practise, in order to protect the public from rapists, perverts and sexual predators. TfL/LTPH have brought about this situation that is leading to hundreds of lives being shattered.
If you are serious about wanting to protect the public, then this situation needs to be looked at urgently as well.

Hendy has denied these figures time and time again on the radio.

Will Hendy still deny what's going on like he has with the rape and sexual assault figures or will he spring into action and release some of the 2000 officers attached to bus ticket fraud to assist in the enforcement against these touts

Anon. I don't think Mason has tied up the RMT, you must be getting confused with the UTG and the notorious Taxi Engagement Policy AKA the Cocks**kers Charter.
ReplyDeleteThe RMT is the ONLT union to take any action at LAP concerning the HALT issue and along with the UCG is continuing to keep all the issues in the public eye. Be assured that there is a lot going on legally and politically to bring TfL to account but after years of inadequate representation it all takes time I regret to say..

maybe we need to email Eddie Nestor and make him fully aware of not only what we are up against with Hendy but also what tricks they may play or sounbytes they may come out with to cover their inadequacies? Don't trust them Eddie, their failings are leading to rapes and they will never EVER admit to that!
