Who Wags the Dog....by Thomas the Taxi.

A Flood of Complaints:
Complaints have flooded in from drivers over the past couple of months, that Addison Lee are contravening the Private hire act in the form of forming illegal ranks, some are saying this is to provoke a high court battle to give Private hire shared use of our ranks.
Not only are they  "Standing waiting to be hired" they are regularly parking on Licensed Taxi ranks.

John Mason has been informed and has supposedly had meetings with the management at Grosvenor House Hotel (One of the most abused ranks) and we have been told that a couple of hundred penalty charge tickets have been issued. Unfortunately there doesn't seem any evidence that this is having the desired affect.

But the problem is much bigger than just one rank:
Night after night, Griffins vans continue to stand on the GHH rank something stinks here.

Griffin to take on TfL?
Griffin goads TfL, in the same way he took on the authorities over the M4 bus lane issue? (And we all know what happened there).
But Mason seems petrified of taking on Addison Lee's perpetual rule breaking. Probably because TfL is said not have the budget for a court battle with Griffin.

Well John, what about the one million pound you just found laying in the cupboard? Use that.

Every night more and more license taxi ranks are seen to be taken over by these imitation taxi's. The rank of many hotels seem to be the latest target with the main contravention happening every night on the Grosvenor Crescent Rank.

The Anderson Shelter calls on all License Taxi drivers to complain direct to the Director of Taxis and private hire, John Mason and tell him, if he doesn't stamp out this problem now it will soon escalate in to a situation where violence could break out at these sites. He must have the courage of his convictions and enforce the law now.

A Solution:
The Anderson Shelter would like to offer a solution to this problem!
Give Cab Enforcement a couple of radio controlled smart cars which could be directed to hot spots.
On arrival tickets could be issued to the offending PHV drivers.
This operation would be self funding.
Plus;
If PHV drivers are convicted of touting, their vehicles should be taken away and crushed.

It simple! Works fine in New York.
(Although in that city, all the cab drivers carry guns).

Question To John Mason:
Have you read TfL Press releases appertaining to this offence? Obviously not.
So we will just remind in true blue peter fashion  " One that was prepared earlier".

PCO Notice 07/09
Further guidance for the drivers of private hire vehicles

Taxi Ranks
Drivers of PHVs are reminded that they must not park or wait on taxi ranks.
The driver and owner of any vehicle except for a licensed hackney carriage found standing on a rank may be liable to a fine of up to £2,500.

  1. Or instead of smart cars use the 'Enforcement' Budget to pay for more Marshalled ranks & use KoL boys to fill this role...that way they help protect their future & earn while they learn. This money would also come from PH-they break the law, let them pay towards enforcing it via their licence fees!

You have more chance of winning the Euro-millions lottery than having John Masons name on ANY kind of action. He hasn't delivered anything of value to the cab trade, nor do I think he ever will!

John Masons commitment is to the agenda and remit that he agreed to when he accepted his position. That is now obvious!

All I can say is..... don't hold your breath!

  3. TTT,
I really thought this was a serious posting until you mentioned MASON and COURAGE in the same sentence, thats when I realised you were trying to fool us

Can we not at last realise that Mason & TfL have One Agenda that is HARMONISATION.

All the rest is window dressing
(that includes you UTG!), Think about it, Two or three big players and TfL, no stroppy cab drivers, demos or awkward questions.

Once the KoL is 'outsourced' it will become a joke and then a topo test for PHV's will be assimilated with the KoL, END.

Just millions in licence fees for TfL and sweatshop drivers.

But as John Mason says 'It's not about the money', well John, it sure ain't about preserving the world's no.1 Cab trade.

Maybe next year if you and the LCDC are still around you could get the 'audience' down to single figures at the AGM!

  5. Griffin will appeal all the tickets, TfL will bottle it and due to a 'technicality' they will all be cancelled and/or the rank space will go down to 1 to 2 cabs.

After all it's a 'level playing field' says Mr Mason.

One thing about Mr Mason & Co. they are predictable.

The same goes for the UTG press and the next headline 'TfL Crackdown'

£2500.00 fines, it's a fantasy as far as TfL are concerned but it is the law.

As ever we demand that TfL

    ENFORCE THE LAW!

  6. John Mason left out in!

When he informed us that £1,000,000 is to be spent on enforcement "effective immediately," surely he meant ineffective immediately as usual!

John 'Blockbuster The Sweet...talker' Mason (hasn't got a clue what to do) appears to be absolutely useless & totally incapable of combating the mindblowing touting epidemic that we see in London every night. Is he a complete & utter failure or just not interested & stealthily pursuing the STaN Agenda? I'd say it's a no brainer!

Mason has been seen on numerous occasions getting into and out of Addison Lee minicabs.
Drivers are starting to ask questions.
Has griffin given Mason a free account?
or is this a private account of Masons?
could it be a TfL account?

Is this one reason why AL get away with breaking so many PH laws and why the act has been changed to accommodate Griffins actions?

Come clean John, lets have the truth for once.

Come on Helen, let us know what the truth is?

    1. Has JM got an ADD Lee account and for how long

    2. Is it personal or TfL?

    3. What terms does he enjoy? What is the average monthly spend?

    4. Has he declared it as an interest and where may that record be inspected?

    5. Who else at TfL has an AL account?

  9. The 'control freak' formally known as John Mason will get nothing back from the London Cab Trade. But from P/Hire the worlds his oyster.

Crush AL motors, come on boys & girls! you are not thinking that it will be an even handed deal do you?

Another stunt from Boris the B*llS**tter & the UTG Press.

  12. With mini cabs parked and plying for hire on our ranks they are denying me and you dear reader our right to earn a living and legally ply for hire.

My hard earned rights are being denied, and this should be taken to the court of European rights.
