we expected TfL and the Met to pull out all the stops to try to get these damning figures down. Both Mason and Hendy said in radio interviews that this was expected for 2010.
According to Operation Sapphire on the Metropolitan Police web site, rape and sexual assaults are a huge problem within the metropolitan boroughs. Westminster, the most highly policed area in the UK, has a terrible reputation as the hub for perpetrators of sexual assaults to prey on their victims.
Why are TfL burying these fact's?
I think this is in the correct order;
1: 23rd September 2010 rapes and sexual assaults up by 54%
2: STaN the PowerPoint presentation uncovered by a UNITE member.
3: Meeting arranged at Palestra (after half term)
4: Scrap the satellites, stop the rapes demo at Oxford Circus 3pm Weds 17th November.
5: Since then total capitulation and silence from the infamous UTG regarding STaN.
6: Nothing so far to this date regarding STaN in the trade press.(except for one article in the CTN that tried to lay the blame for STaN at Boris's feet)
Why has the STaN Agenda not been on the front page of every Trade paper?
Here's an open invitation to the LTDA, LCDC, and UNITE membership;
Call a mass meeting so your members and future members can ask you simple questions about STaN, you have nothing to hide do you?
If they won't do this, then cancel your membership subscription.
Are you willing to pay money to a collective that support
1.Private hire marshaled pick up points
2.Satellite offices
3.clipboard johnny's and Jane's
If they are not prepared to challenge STaN, they must then support it. These three issues have been identified as being the main cause of the dramatic rise in sexual attacks on the passengers of private hire vehicles.
If they (UTG) are not part of the solution, then they are part of the problem. From were I STaNed, the UTG leaders are no more than white feathers in the post, I feel betrayed.
What happened to the TfL advertising campaign that commissioned this advert from Saatchi and Saatchi?

This goes to show how much TFL/TPH,really care about Londoners, safety,Well maybe its time we took the campaign to another level,
ReplyDeleteDemos are okay, but only really reach a certain amount of people,As we know BORIS/TFL,put a news blackout on the last one.
So I suggest instead of demos we fire off E MAILS to everyone revealing the statistic of Rapes in licensed and unlicensed minicabs, and the POLICE/TFLs failure to act,By everyone I dont just mean the usual subjects,I mean everyone,Office Blocks,Head Offices,Fashion Designers, schools, colleges you name it E MAIL it,even your local chinese takeaway if need be,The thing with doing this,is firsty it will be read by a secretary, the very people that are being put at risk,And lets be fair at some time or another we have all started a conversation with "here i got an e mail today saying etc etc",so now can you see where i am coming from, BORIS and co may want to hide these figures, but wont be able to once the public start to talk and question it,
Okay I am aware most will just delete them but we only need the E mails to reach a few that wont, and start asking WHY?.
Its just a suggestion but we seem to have exhausted every other avenue.
GARYS
Spot on TtT,bang on the money the UTG are no more than toothless tigers, they talk tough but fail to deliver.
ReplyDeleteIf they the UTG are not prepared to attack the STaN agenda that's being rolled out all over London, then there can be no other conclusion made that they UTG must support it.
Is the UTG now to be called The White Feather Club?
What would Frederick Hitch V.C. (Rorkes Drift) former Licensed Taxi Driver have to say regarding our so called trade leaders?
And what do you say readers?
Great idea GaryS.
ReplyDeleteMaybe TtT can formulate a cohesive email with all the relevent statistics and make it hard hitting so that any woman reading it is left in no doubt how directly this may (God forbid) impact on her or a friends life in the future!
Maybe a thread can be started on the LTDF forum or a seperate section on this site to gather together a long, exhaustive list of email addresses so that a driver need only copy and paste them into their email client.
The sad thing is though is that the media are already in the know with these details and yet also choose to ignore them!
Does anyone really give a s**t?
makes you wonder!
It is just like unmanned tube stations, Track inspection intervals and one person operated buses.
ReplyDeleteLife is cheap, Hendy's salary is not so savings have to be made.
The UTG has shown itself for what it is a self serving clique.
A SHAME on you All
The so called UTG almost certainly done a deal with TfL for concessions outside of consultation in return for silence of STaN and the sexual assault statistics. Its time for the UTG to be held accountable.
ReplyDeleteThis article is spot on. The exposure of STaN confirmed John Mason, Joe Royal, Peter Hendy, Martin Lowe and many others as despicable liars!
The time frame and information as described above is correct, the famous meeting after half term was never published, WHY?
Don't forget it was UNITE that uncovered STaN, now go and read the latest copy of Cab Trade News and see how they are reporting what a success the 2010 STaN campaign has been!
I SMELL A RAT !
Very good posts one and all, people do care, the family members of the person who has been raped and sexually assaulted care, and it should be our duty to get this information out there to the general public through any means out our disposal.
ReplyDeleteTFL created STaN no doubt for good reasons to warn the general public the dangers of travelling in an unbooked minicab.
But a Unite member found the real STaN, and the agenda behind it is clear to see to anyone.
But TFL have a massive proplem, they have rolled out STaN and tried to make the Private Hire look respectable and it's failed, rapes and sexual assaults up 54%
Where is the UTG response to STaN.......all I see is a white flag?
I've read the latest edition of the cab trade news, and I can't find a thing on STaN, nothing at all, I just don't underSTaNed.
ReplyDeleteIn October 2010 when the hidden agenda behind STaN was exposed the Metropolitan Police web site statistics stated rape in the Metropolitan boroughs was up by 31%and other sexual assaults we up by 9% giving a total figure in the London area of a rise in rape and sexual assaults of 40%. These figures have now been massaged and will be massaged more. The blackout on STaN will continue until such a time that all agencies involved can mount a fightback and once again claim STaN as a success
ReplyDeleteThats why I reckon Garys has it spot on,cant see how they are going to massage the figures once the public start asking, and checking,It may even make the Lib/Dems put up a strong candidate for the next mayoral elections,After all the bloods on Johnsons and Livingstones hands,Dont know if they will make a better job,but at least they will know we cant be just pushed aside...
ReplyDeleteThe TOCU tout teams has a new boss who plans to cut the number of nights they do despite their protests. They will also finish at 2am if he gets his way!
ReplyDeleteIf this is true, surely theres some confusion as to who funds the TOCU then.BORIS says its him,TFL,say its them, when in fact its me and every other London Council Taxpayer,When you get your breakdown at the begining of the year it clearly shows you are paying for a 24/7 police force,It does not mention anything about, being up to the boss of a certain section being able to decide what hours they will cover,
