This whole campaign started with ordinary cab drivers from all organisations and radio circuits uniting in a fight to stop the onslaught of illegal activity by touts licensed by TfL.
Unaware at the time that there was a multi agency agenda in full swing, the London Cab Trade suspicious of the authorities began to make accusations of a hidden agenda.
This was denied many times and the average London cab driver went to work day by day believing that their given trade organisation had their best interests at heart.
John Mason peddled TfL transparency and open dialog;
Very quickly, he decided he only wanted to interface with three organisations (namely the ones that had trade press publications).
All was going very well, Joe Royal attended the LCDC AGM in 2009, and he gave reassurances to the LCDC membership of the dedication of his TOCU officers and their integrity to deal with illegal touting!
We all know now that Royal was lying and the remit of his officers was something very different to what he described!
2010 the newly appointed John Mason attends the LCDC AGM giving similar assurances.
He took answers from the floor from concerned cab drivers and his eyes rolled back in his head like a Shakespearian actor as he spouted his rhetoric.
Mason knew he had the winning cards in his hand, as the cab trade knew nothing about the hidden agenda behind STaN.
Much as a game of Trumps: If you hold the Kings, Queens, Jacks and Aces, you can’t lose!
This invitation to an open debate is very interesting and if those chosen TfL organisations feel comfortable that they have acted in the trade’s best interest, there shouldn’t be a problem.
I doubt if there will be a response……….
Let the fight of the best of the best continue and may the fight for existence of the Words best taxi service continue; a standard Private Hire will never achieve!
Well said, Friends House (forgive the pun) is a good central venue. Can you find out more for us?

ReplyDeleteLast week it was posted on here that PETER HENDY,was to be on the NICK FERRARI show,To answer questions,it was suggested we e mail the show,And ask why he refuses to reconise the 54% increase in rapes in licensed minicabs,[ figures supplied by the met police]
ReplyDeleteI phoned the show and was told i would get a call back.then listened in earnest, nothing.not a dickey bird,A cab driver did get through but he asked "why with the roadworks is south carraige drive shut on sundays" A real threat to public safety that,
My point being,Yes HENDY probaly did say,he would not answer any questions on that,
But FERRARI,you should have put your mans hat on and said if you dont, dont come on the show,WHY?...because your forever going on about how proud you are of your two boys,Well it may come as a shock to you,Other Fathers are proud of thier kids to,yet many are broken because thier son or daughter has been sexually assaulted in one of these minicabs,
And you know something FERRARI,you are worse than the rapists, because you were in a position to bring it to the publics attention, and put the guy with the power to do something on the spot, and did nothing.
and that sums up why we will never get a fair and open debate.
