Those with eagle eyes will have noticed over the passed few days, a new speed limit has suddenly appeared on the Westway.
First to go were the lights.
After a lamppost was blown down onto a vehicle in high winds, all the lighting (deemed unsafe) was removed. When they realised how much money they could save, it was announced that the removal would be permanent and the motorist was left in the dark.
Now, after being advised that vehicles possibly use less fuel travelling at a lower speed, it has been decided by the great and the good to reduce the speed limit to 30MPH.
This morning, London Assembly Member Jenny Jones appeared on LBC and said, "slower motorway speed would save fuel, cut the motorists costs and make us less reliant on insecure oil from the Middle East.
Jenny just back from the green party conference, where a motion was passed not to support "High Speed Rail 2". Government are using force economics to support it she said...Something that never would be done by the London assembly then?

So they dont like Trains as well!
ReplyDeleteLet's all use Pedicabs then, oh forgot they wont be able to be made as that uses steel that needs electricity and comes from dirty old China..
Wheelchair users have to push themselves as electric ones are obviously not good as the batteries are full of pollutants.
Can we have some balance here!
Some people won't be happy until we bring back men with a red flag walking in front of all motor vehicles. That would cure the unemployment problem at a stroke wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteOne wonders where we are going with all this nonsense and how do these people manage to achieve such influence?
We should send them to NASA to watch the space shuttle blast off - that would give them heart failures. The ascent of man? - Not if they had their way.
