| Peter Rose |
The scheduled meeting was to discuss:
The activities of The Dorchester and Grosvenor House Hotels and Hackney Carriage contraventions’ that had been committed at these venues. John Mason claimed he would hold an inquiry into the concerns raised and make a report.
To date, NO official report has been made!
Other issues on the agenda were STaN, the Freedom of Information request (FOI) regarding the damaging, ambiguous rape and sexual assault statistics released by TfL to the media, to the detriment of the London Licensed Taxi Trade.
To date this request still hasn't been met!
However, Peter Rose was railroaded out of the meeting by Jim Kelly (Unite London cab section Chair) who was accompanied by Mike Hedges of Unite. Since the meeting all of the above has been broomed under the carpet, forgotten about and there appears to be a media blackout on STaN!
Consequently it is rumoured that the LCDC and LTDA are claiming the meeting was scheduled only to discuss the Mayors Cleaner Air Strategy.
THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE!
A deal was almost definitely struck on this day and promises were made for concessions.
As for the Mayors Cleaner Air Strategy, there was nothing to discuss as the consultation regarding this issue closed in September 2010 and all that was required was for the Mayor to make a press release with his decision!
The United Trade Group (UTG) left Palestra with their 30 pieces of silver and a fifteen year deal for London Taxis under the Mayors Cleaner Air Strategy. A story that will be milked to the hilt by the UTG press to help John Mason, Peter Hendy, TfL and all of the other agencies involved out of the embarrassment of the uncovered truth about the statistics that would have set Private Hire back ten years and exposed the STaN campaign as a failure, waste of money, flawed policy and Policing farce!
Unfortunately, no minutes of the meetings are kept which leaves the trade at mercy at the John Mason controlled United Trade Group (UTG) and their unreliable reporting in their newspapers to convey whatever they like to the trade at large!
In reality it is STaN and satellite offices that will kill our trade, and by far is the most damaging concept of the TfL agenda!
John Mason claimed that “NO MORE NEW SATELLITE OFFICES WILL BE OPENED!” Unless a venue is identified under exceptional circumstances!
It has always been the remit under STaN for The Metropolitan Police (TOCU), (STC) and City of London Police (CoLP) to identify hotspots or venues and recommend TfL contact such establishments as priority applicants for approval of a satellite booking office. So in reality, STaN would carry on being rolled out right under our noses under the cover of a clever bit of misinformation, courtesy of John Mason!
John Mason has been caught many times making a play with words or statements and in my opinion being economical with the truth!
This being the reason I believe all meeting should be recorded officially with minutes ; thus giving the trade at large transparency. After all, the vast majority of cab drivers are forced to accept representation by these three unreliable, unelected representative organisations.
Austin Taxis.
Peter Rose was removed from UTG because he published the STaN Agenda and would vote against Grant Davis's Yellow Badge identifiers, in accordance with a vote carried out by Unite members.
ReplyDeleteJim Kelly and Mike Hedges have replaced Peter Rose because they support Grants scheme and go against their own membership. They have also agreed to bury the story on the STaN agenda.
They make up two of votes at the top table of the UTG although they only represent about 70 members.
Is this the representation your money buys
This is corruption where membership at the top table is being manipulated to fit with their agenda
On the night in question I attended the Grosvenor House Hotel along with hundreds of other drivers.
ReplyDeleteEarly arrivals witnessed Addison Lee's booking desk which was hurriedly removed when discovered.
we also witnessed marshals for AL openly touting guests leaving the venue.
Tony Cook was there and spoke to Dan Sullivan a member of the LCDC committee, who seemed appalled as to what was going on. He contacted another LCDC committee member who arrived as the last few stragglers were leaving.
However the next day they reported to John Mason that they saw nothing illegal.
These LCDC officers are a disgrace to the trade.

ReplyDeleteHad to remove your comment as it was a personal attack and had nothing to do with this article.

Apparently, Peter Rose has plans to make moves on Jim Kelly for his position as Chairman of Unite cab section. It is no secret that the two don't see eye to eye and Rose is well known to regard his political illegence to the Conservative party.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a small war is about to kick off within Unite. But at least Jim Kelly is getting a heads up and get the opportunity for a fair fight!
I personally hope that Peter is successful as I believe he has the trades best interest at heart.
ReplyDeleteKelly is Ken Livingstons man and has expressed an interest in letting PH become members of Unites London branch as there seems to be little interest from the taxi trade (under 100 members)
Unite already have PH drivers as members outside London
Kelly has sold out the Licensed Taxi trade for a seat at the UTG meetings. Anyone that supports him needs their head examined
With regards to the minutes or lack of minutes at this meeting, surely the must be Union rules that would.apply to Unite where any officer that attends a meeting on behalf of its membership must demand that minutes are taken.
ReplyDeleteAs for the LTDA and LCDC they do what they like as they are mickey mouse outfits, but Unite are the largest Union in the country, surely they have rules that must be followed?
If you are.a member of any of the trade orgs that make up the UGH, call them and demand that minutes are taken in every meeting where they are representing YOU the member.
With representation like this is it any wonder that TtP are walking all over this trade?

Funny how quick tony cook jumped ship to the Rmt, he was always banging on about the club this, the club that.
ReplyDeleteTony Cook never jumped ship. He saw the damage STaN is going to cause our trade and told the LCDC to shove it. Not a bad bloke I would say as most of the committee know him personally!
ReplyDeleteShame they don't possess the bottle to stand up and be counted. What a disgrace Grant Davis and the LCDC have become!
I say fair play to Tony Cook for jumping ship, for someone who was so staunch LCDC to jump ship to the enemy just goes to show what a state the Club are in
ReplyDeleteDoes Tony know something that we don't?
I wonder who will be next to wake up?
Just seen on the news the LTDA,are teaching thier members how to fight back in the event of being attacked, shame they cant fight for the good of the trade
ReplyDeleteWhat's the point in learning how to defend yourself at work ? Yeah, we have a so called deal from TfL on the age limit on our cabs, but in reality we won't have jobs to defend in just a few short years.Have you all seen the list of venues that have satellite offices ? We are now the secondary late night carriers of the general public. I would estimate that licensed taxis are currently taking less than 25% of this late night work, and what are the UTG doing about STaN, sweet F.A
ReplyDeleteWell Done Tony cook,
ReplyDeletewho stood by his principles and walked away from the bandits who purport to represent our interests.
Its not easy to walk away from friends you've known for many years.
Sullivan your actions were inexcusable on Twitter, no wonder you've been gagged.
Pity Peter Rose and Tony McC haven't taken a leaf out of TC book. Get some courage men FFS
Well another year of UTG treachery beckons!
ReplyDeleteThe 15 year limit agreed and not a member consulted plus 2 MOT's (same as the public's yeah right!) and a compliance inspection to keep the ex C'O's in beer money and us in stop notes.
Trade Negotiators My A**E!!!!
I am an RMT member ( and proud to belong to an open and democratic organisation) and be assured WE WILL be pressing TfL for minutes of any cab trade meetings FOR ALL LICENCE HOLDERS TO SEE.
We WILL invoke FOI and formally lodge protests to the GLA & Mayor.
Well boys & girls, you know the truth now and why the UTG & TfL has resorted to every trick in the book to keep the RMT on the outside.
TIME TO VOTE WITH YOUR FEET!!!!!
Once again I ask all members of the LTDA LCDC and UNITE to ask their trade reps:
ReplyDelete1, What are they going to do about the STaN agenda. (Private Hire Marshalled Pick up Points)
2,Are questions not being asked because the UTG are PRO STaN and Private Hire Marshalled Pick up Points.
Minutes, also known as protocols, are the instant written record of a meeting or hearing. They often give an overview of the structure of the meeting, starting with a list of those present, a statement of the various issues before the participants, and each of their responses thereto. They are often created at the moment of the hearing by a typist or court recorder at the meeting, who may record the meeting in shorthand, and then prepare the minutes and issue them to the participants afterwards. Alternatively, the meeting may be audiorecorded or a group's appointed or informally assigned Secretary may take notes, with minutes prepared later. However it is often important for the minutes to be brief and concentrate on material issues rather than being a verbatim report, so the minute-taker should have sufficient understanding of the subject matter to achieve this. The minutes of certain entities, such as a corporate board of directors, must be kept and are important legal documents sorry TEE FEE EEL GET THE MINUTES OR ITS NOT LEGAL TC14
ReplyDeleteI was able to reflect over the last few weeks on the value of my membership of LTDA. With the present people at the helm I have decided to leave this undemocratic outfit and continue to be a member of RMT, which is democratic and has a big future in Taxi Trade.
ReplyDeleteAs my communications with LTDA has been blanked for a long time now I have canceled my subs (paid them for over 25 years) and would advise others to leave LTDA now. As LTDA is now they are detrimental to Taxi Trade's future.
Simco
This whole exposure started with the exposure of the activities of UNITE the Union and has suddenly diverted to the LCDC and a simple member at that. Who other than Uriah Heep would attempt to deflect the attention from UNIITE the union? This devious Dickensian reptile is close to being exposed for all that he is !
ReplyDeleteI cannot accept that no minutes of the meeting were recorded and it is only a matter of time before all will be exposed
ReplyDeleteA thought has just occured to me,We are quick on this site to condem drivers for burying thier heads in the sand,I have done so myself, But how many drivers really know whats going on.On here we all assume everybody has the internet,And even if they have it dont follow that they have heard of this site.Lets assume your a day man,You will be aware that theres a problem with touts at night,But as your only real contact with the trade is the Trade Press,
ReplyDeleteyou will be convinced, that the likes of the LTDA,LCDC,etc are doing a splendid job.Yesterday I made a point of saying to at least 10 guys "I saw on the Anderson Shelter" and they all gave the same response,a blank look followed by "whats that".Maybe its time we took a little time to educate our fellow drivers to this site, where they will get the full picture of how this Trade is going, and know exactly how ODDY,and DAVIS,are really behaving with thier subs.Instead of the versions they want them to hear
GARYS
Gary I have been having the same thoughts all day
ReplyDeleteI would say that about 15% of the trade know what's actually going on, the others, are quite happy getting their news from the Taxi, Badge or CTN
I have tried to explain to the RMT if they want to get their case across, they must have a voice in the Media and that means a Paper. Same with the UCG, only about 10% of the trade have heard of them.
Taxi is Obbys Ace in the hole and we will never get close to competing with him till we manage to launch a publication. Blogs are Ok for PR and starting the ball rolling but not enough drivers log on.
TtT
As a dear friend has said to me recently,
ReplyDeleteMinutes SHOULD be taken otherwise, how would any one be able to look back and see what has been discussed and what decisions (if any) were taken, and even to see who actually attended the meeting especially those who were there in a representive capacity.
Without this people could make up anything that suits their purposes without having any documentary evidence to back it up. This is one of the main purposes of taking minutes.
A historical record and a factual account of what took place.
This is all best practice and helps prevent abuse or possible corruption.
Lets have a collection to get a news sheet put out to all the ranks,we can hand them out, find out how much you need, put it on twitter and we will chip in.Its a new year and a good time to start a new era.If only for us night drivers.
ReplyDeleteCan all who appear on this blog and elsewhere on the web, e mail Helen Chapman, John Mason and if they are members of a UTG group e mail them as well asking for minutes of the infamous meeting.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt they will all resist but TfL know they will HAVE TO RESPOND in the end even if we have to get the information commissioner and the GLA to intervene.
TfL's decision to take sides in internal cab trade politics is unwise and improprer for a licensing authority as it shows bias.
As for the others (LCDC, UNITE and the LTDA) their silence will be evidence enough of treachery.
Sold down the river!
As a member of UNITE I have requested Jim Kelly and Peter Kavanagh's contact details from the UNITE secretary Peter Rose, as I wish to raise a complaint of possible trade union breeches and code of conduct. Peter Rose is refusing to furnish me with this information, as he wants to get to the people that matter first to carry out damage limitation. Now he getting exposed!
ReplyDeleteAustin has left a new comment on your post "UTG Black Tuesday 2010......by Austin Taxi.":
ReplyDeletePeter Rose is a massive Ken Livingstone supporter. He wants Boris out and Ken in. He has been desperately sucking up to Valerie Shawcross MP and is trying to get Livingstone into a monthly meeting at UNITE. This is all in his plan to brown nose his way up the greasy pole at UNITE and challenge Jim Kelly. He doesn't give a toss that Livingstone sanctioned STaN, nor does he care that Livingstone appointed all of the busmen to run TfL's road transportation network. Rose only cares about himself and is probably the most treacherous man I have ever met!
Well anon no 2 has Mr Rose as a Tory waiting to overthrow the left wing powers in Unite!
ReplyDeleteAnd Austin? has him down as Kens man sucking up to Valerie Shawcross...
In Peters own words
Truth! Although I suggested the meeting I was never invited to it nor did I expect to be.
Unite has a Cab Trade Committee to do this, it is not normally my role.
I do however step in as cover from time to time.
The meeting was about the trade in general, not STaN. It got overshadowed by the content of CTN which was coincidental.
At this present moment in time the one thing the UTG and TFL do not want is a newspaper from The Anderson Shelter and the United Cabbies Group.
ReplyDeleteThe power of the press is so important, get these stories and comments out there in a newspaper, ask the current members of the LTDA the LCDC and UNITE to ask their trade reps, are they going to challenge STaN.
Print the STaN agenda for all to see.
The question is who is Uriah Heep ?
ReplyDeleteIs he the man who has a twisted tongue,
A man with no real friends,
A slimey character who will stop at nothing to gain new members,
And from were i'm sitting it could only be one man .........
Can Mr Peter Rose as a start also state he withdraws the Tachograph RMT Lies, he ran in CTN.
ReplyDeleteCan he also explain why the membership of UNITE Cab Trade Branch were not consulted BEFORE the decison to back the 15 year age limit plus all the other 'terms & conditions' that came with it?
He can then come some way to be rehabilitated as a truthful source in the cab trade, if not he will remain someones poodle and therefore not to be taken seriously ever again.
