Grant Davis, Chairman of the LCDC, Calls For Unity....by Thomas the Taxi.

Grant Davis, chairman of the LCDC has now called for the whole Taxi trade to unite.
After signing a document along with the United Trade Group and prominent others, on behalf of the whole trade, agreeing to an age limit to be introduced for Taxis, he is now worried that Boris and TfL have had an agenda all along.

This is a statement he made on the LCDC blog Wednesday night.

"It is a shame that only when we are facing such dire times, people see the damage of the sniping and negative actions that have gone on for the last 2 years.
In my opinion, if Boris tells us 10 years then everything else is secondary. we will not have a Trade left.

If this happens, I hope that every orginisation in London, LTDA,RMT,UCG,T&G Unite, all muster forces and bring the streets of London to a stand still, day after day, week after week.

This will indeed be our Rorkes Drift, and we MUST show strength and determination for our survival".

OK so Grant, along with specially invited others, made the mistake of offering Boris an age limit on Taxis and now he wants unity.
So how about coming out and joining the trade this evening at the Westminster City Hall demo and show us all you mean business.
I believe the UCG are still waiting for your reply to their invitation for your support of this demo.

How about phoning up John Kennedy, the chairman of the RMT and saying John you were the only one who was right all along mate, come and join us at the table, we are going to unite.

Wonder what Bob will say about this new call for unity.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that this is the only way forward and will back the call for unity all the way. But I can't see this happening with a certain trade leader, who believes he has a divine right to lord it over the rest of the trade.

Nice Work If You Can get It.
Can some one tell me exactly what it is these marshals do.
Thousands in the queue with one single railway-man marshalling people into cabs at the point of the queue.
Are these yellow hi-vi marshals paid just to hand out copies of the Taxi Paper and stand around chatting.

Nice work if you can get it.

  1. As for Grant Davis:

What's the saying: 'Not waving, but drowning'. seems he realises his position is on the line, he makes a last desperate plea.

Still I and many others warned him months back about 'choosing his friends carefully'.

TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. Bye Bye, Grant, Bye Bye!

As for the 'all action' LTDA Marshals (who paid 'em this time?) at least they move which is more than appears to happen with the committee at Woodfield Road! What a joke.
Anyone who gives them subs needs to think on.

As they said at the PCO when I got my badge 'A lot of people get a good living in the cab trade, (pause for effect) None of them drive a cab!

I too am for unity, lets purge the trade of the above and unite.

Three years ago the Anderson Shelter published a story about TfL's new PHV pick up and drop off waiting areas place just in front of a Licensed Taxi rank. We stated that this was the thin end of the wedge. We were shouted down by activists from the LTDA and the LCDC and told we were just stirring up trouble. We aslo warned that if unapossed this would spread and become a major problem. Again we were shouted down and told we had nothing to worry about. . Now the same people who said we had nothing to worry about are doing the shouting and it's too late...Grant is only shouting now because his position as chairman will be challenged by disgruntled members as he has been seen to sell them out with the UTG. Unfortunately it's not Grants fault as he is just a puppet, who is being advised badly. Well you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

  3. Those five cabdrivers in Hi Vi's are on £46 an hour. I hope the people who pay their wages see this film and ask Bob to reimburse them as they are aid to marshal the long queues not to dish out copies of Taxi.
If one rail worker can do this job why are they wasting their money.

Grant who are you calling to unite with?
Your already united with the LTDA and Unite. Are you now saying you want to unite with the RMT and the UCG?
Are you speaking on behalf of Bob and Peter?

  6. Well, I certainly hope this messiah of yours can spell better than you. He's also going to need to be able to read joined up writing!

Well no sign of Grant (The Great Unifier!)Davis at Westminster City hall last night at the bikers bash!

    Was he:

    a) Eating Fish & Chips with the cab drivers friend John Mason?

    b) Appearing on East Enders?

    c) Reading a bedtime story to the 'elders' of the UTG at the rest home?

As we all suspected the usual 'Mouth & Trousers' act from the 'Sun's Cabbie'.

    'Know wot I mean Eddie.'
