Apparently the new fixed fare rank will not have police support.
Local police and PCSO's have just been told just to keep an eye on it if they are passing.
The reason that it is not going to have full support is quite simple. Money.
There is none.
The LTDA will finance the rank for a trial period, then after that who knows?
But the plan, long term is to have one taxi driver plus one security marshal.
How they are going to finance this is still unclear.
Funny how they found the money for a van load of police at the private hire rank in Whitcomb Street last year!
This now poses a brand new question aimed at Peter Hendy, John Mason and our man on the board of TfL Silent Bob;
No enforcement budget, no money for new taxi ranks to be marked out and no budget for police support!

Failed London Car Bombings
On Thursday night, June 26, 2007, the following message was placed on an Islamic website chat room called El Hesbah by Abu Osama al-Hazeen.
Today I say:
Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed.
On early Friday morning, June 27, 2007, just after midnight, two Mercedes cars each rigged with a car bomb composed of 60 litres of gasoline, propane cylinders and nails were parked in London's West End, one in Haymarket, just outside the nightclub Tiger Tiger, and the other on Cockspur Street, near to Trafalgar Square. In the early hours of Friday morning, these locations are among the busiest parts of Central London. People are leaving nightclubs, restaurants, bars, cinemas, and theaters after an evening out. Islamist extremist literature, found on the internet and heard in radical preaching, has singled out night clubs as examples of the immoral hypocrisy of countries like the UK.
The first of these cars was discovered by chance. After midnight, two paramedics were called to the Tiger Tiger club to treat a man who had fallen and had a minor head injury. When they arrived they noticed the Mercedes car with the smell of gas coming from it. First they treated the man, then they called the police and fire brigade. When the officers arrived, they disconnected the cell phone effectively defusing the car bomb. They removed the visible explosive items, put a tent around the car, and began forensic investigation. By morning when it was light, they towed car away.
The second car was illegally parked on Cockspur Street near Trafalgar square. It was ticketed. About an hour later it was towed to the Park Lane pound. It was there that the smell of gas was noticed. Upon investigating the smell, it was discovered that this car too had been rigged with a bomb of gasoline, propane gas cylinders, and nails.
Telephone records indicate that the terrorists called the cell phone in the Mercedes parked by the Tiger Tiger night club twice. But the cell phone failed to denotate the fuse of the bombs. They also called the cell phone located in the Mercedes parked near Trafalgar Square four times. This cell phone also failed to denotate the fuse of the car bomb. From the cell phones found in the cars, the police were able to trace who had made the cell phone calls. Amazingly, this lead to a group of young doctors, all Muslim. One of them had a known connection to an Al Qaeda operative currently serving a jail term in Great Britain for terrorist activities.
I really dont know what is going on,or why we are treated as we are,After all,have we not done everything by the book,we done the knowledge, at our own expense,To work in a trade,that the goverment set our prices,TFL,set the rules,yet we are classed as self employed,we are forever being asked to be the ears and eyes of the police,And world known as being the best and safest form of transport,Okay in Worboys we had a wrong un,and did the press milk that for all it was worth,but again he was one in a trade that has thousands,so i think its safe to say,just one,is fairly good going,Look back and you will find the Police,have had more sex offenders,But where in fact we should be held in high esteem,we are at the bottom of the list,Remember when a bomb went off in an unlicenced taxi,at the BBC,suddenly to gain access to Canary Wharf,you had to show your bill,The PCO at the time,instead of saying the security guards had no right to see it by law,just said its private property so they can do as they wish,But would still act on a complaint if you refused to take a job there,Yet minicabs and buses went through unchallenged,Then minicabs become licenced,and it was a case of fill in a form,and away you go,no complaints procedure,oh and by the way if your an asylum seeker no CRB check,Still this was going to put an end to illegal touting,but the fact was it just made it worse,as people saw the minicab was licenced,so thought all was well,LIVINGSTONE was informed at the time these cars were being sold on,with months still left on the licence,a rapists dream,plus advoiding the congestion charge,but did he act no,Yet enter a bus lane with no plate on the back,even if you could prove you were going for an overhaul app,you was still nicked???,Now lets move on to present day,GRIFFIN decides to instruct his drivers to enter the M4 buslane,we all got up in arms about it,It was finally decided it was up to the Met police to enforce,they in turn issue a statement it was dangerous to enforce,as you had to cross 2 lines of traffic,and they dont have the finance,well one man with a mobile camera on a bridge across the motorway,must be cheaper than the 6/7 coppers at the beginning of the Hammersmith flyover just to make sure you dont cross the chevrons and cut in is okay,Drive down oxford st any night of the week,and you will see blatant touting the cameras wont see this,but will see a taxi making third on Selfridges,It has been reported on here if you are caught without your badge and bill you face a £280 fine,yet get caught touting you face a £100 fine,for no insurance,....So lets weigh it all up to pass on to our children,do you be and honest taxpaying citizen,and do everything right,and become a london taxi driver,with a badge and bill to prove it,Or become a licenced minicab driver,use someone elses car,and tout,you wont pay any tax on that,oh and fleece the public,they cant complain as theres no complaints procedure,Oh and with your blacked out windows,you can have a little grope,nobody in authority will care,sick but true,I know minicabs drivers come on here so i look forward to you making any part of this wrong

When Mr McNamara is head of LTDA and Mr Grant (Salt & Vinegar John?)Davis is the TfL Taxi Rep, they will explain it to you all.
Remeber how vocal Mr Oddy in your support at those meetings and how much time and effort goes into writing notices to the trade,

Surely you have noticed I have sworn in some LCDC members as 'Special Constables' to visit trouble spots and assure me all is well and that touting is a myth.

ReplyDeleteThey now seem to be the 'eyes and ears' of the LTPH, I wonder though once The LCDC Chairman is the TfL Board Rep. after Mr Oddy (what did he say?) stands dow, will they still serve a purpose?
After all surely all that driving the Tories about (The Sun's Cabbie) and the large slate (or is it Skate?) at the chip shop has all been in vain.
