In plain.....Blah de blah de blah, now carry on as if nothings happened.

This Demo could have been avoided Mr Mason, but then again you know that.
The organisers asked for a meeting and you arrogantly refused.
It seems that TfL are issuing these statements almost as fast as PHO licenses and they are just as meaningless.

Legislation has been created by your office by people who have no idea exactly what they are trying to legislated. Mary Dowdyes dropping of the need for planning permission before a PHV operators license could be issued has decimated our trade.
And you say "its not the money!"

We have made our points crystal clear to you and your predecessor over a ten year period and now you say you need more time to collated evidence.

You said on the news you were disappointed with the trade, but I can assure you Mr Mason its nothing like the disappointment felt by the trade towards you.

While you slip away now to have a nice little bank holiday break, over this week end, London will revert back to its third world status of touts and sexual predators waiting for victims, unabated by the authorities.

We have heard nothing in this release that will stop us from turning up again next week and the week after then perhaps on a more frequent basis.

Its not about the money, do me a favour...TtT

  1. May I make a plea that on all future demos that the hire light is on, as plod can arrest you if you are not wearing a seat belt. Would it also be possible to have a three prong demo, using the Aldwych as central, The Rotunda at the top of London Wall to the east, and either Lambeth circus or Hammersmith Broadway to the west. There should then be no excuse from the drivers to say that they could not take part. With the work as thin on the ground as it is, what difference would another hour in the day make. Think how long you sit on a rank,if you can get on one, before trapping a job. These demonstrations must be held weekly to get the point across, and why stop at one day a week. For instance, why not have the first one on a Monday, followed by the following week on on a Monday and a Tuesday. This to be followed by a three day protest. It must be kept up or we lose.
When I became a cab driver in the early 70s I was told the game was finished, well after nearly 40 years in the job, I believe we are now in extra time, with penalties looming. I hope this does not come about, but as was said in the original Star Trek by Bones, with a licence by me,"ITS CABBING JIM, BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT"
Also, you must try to get the outside media, not just the trade papers, on side. The t.v. would love this story, with possibly an interview or two with regular cab drivers as to what is behind these exercises.

  2. I agree we must let the public know exactly, what this demo is about, years ago now i remember an organisation called split, who put up posters all over the city, about no police action against touting,Maybe thats the way to go,yes it will take money,so lets get the buckets out,On wednesday,i was next to a well pissed off woman, caught in the traffic,if looks could kill i would not be here now,to her we were just greedy blk cab drivers, causing trouble, until i took the time to tell her,all we want is the law, enforced on minicab touts,as there are at least 10 sexual assaults a month,by these touts and nobody in power was taking any notice,She must have had daughters as we went from zero to hero in seconds, even wishing us luck
