Last nights late night hit on the bar Abacus in Cornhill,EC3 was a complete success.
A convoy of Taxis made their way down from a pre-arranged meeting place and formed a line outside the venue. City police have stated to drivers they have no objections to this activity as long as drivers do not park in the bus lane to the west of the bar.
Clip Board man disappeared inside the bar entrance (contravening the fire regulations) as the cabs took over from the unlicensed touts.
The customers leaving this night bar were only too pleased to use our services. This is living proof that there needs to be a Licensed Taxi rank outside the door of this venue, not miles up the road in the middle of nowhere.
Please if you see Licensed Taxis forming ranks outside these venues, don't be afraid to join in. None of the cabs waited more than a few minutes and you will be amazed at the quality of the work we are winning back.
Don't waste expensive fuel driving round aimlessly, get on these ranks and help in the fight to win back the work that PHV drivers have stolen. Don't let them keep getting a free ride. Lets make it as hard for them as we can.
Don't forget, make sure you sign up to the LTDF Taxi forum, click the link on the right of this post and keep an eye open for the next hit.
Its the only way to stop the ever increasing number of touts completely taking over our trade.
Another success for the LTDF Taxi forum hit squad and the Twitter action Group.
We must also thank the drivers and dispatchers of Dial A Cab, who graciously put out messages and updates last night. Lets hope that where DaC lead others will follow.

shorten the knowledge and increase the number of black cabs,if not the phv's will eventually win this battle due to their numbers.
ReplyDeleteOf course people prefer to take a black cab but there are nowhere near enough of them out at night and arranging hits on random venues is missing the point....there are nowhere near enough of you out at night!
ReplyDeleteAs for trying to get a cab outside of the city/west end it's simply impossible SO PRIVATE HIRE PROVIDE A VITAL SERVICE TO LONDONERS AND EVENTUALLY BLACK CABS WILL LOSE THEIR MONOPOLY...Sad but true.
agreed.....
ReplyDeleteim doing the knowledge and it is pointlessly long learning irrelevant point such as kitkat terrace and peice on crap rests. in east & north London where you wouldnt even send your mother-in-law too!!! lol
also couple people i know red lined on 56 ers without any real reason apart from them being pedantic !!
anyway when you drive a cab these stupid lines and using the cotton goes out the window for speed and simplicity..for a punter
knowledgeboy
lol
ReplyDeleteSO PRIVATE HIRE PROVIDE A VITAL SERVICE TO LONDONERS AND EVENTUALLY BLACK CABS WILL LOSE THEIR MONOPOLY...Sad but true.???
tripe from a scab pretending to be a punter...
swooping venues must continue and safety for the public in paramount..
the anger should be directed at authorities for passing soo many shifty mini cabs driver out from god knows what part of the world...
well suppose thats part of labour political aim. flood the already full uk with everybody and get them to pay tax to the claim expenses.....and we can all see how bad the polls are going... bit like the quality of the merged cab & phv trade
sum can draw parralels to the night Taxi trade in London, flood the streets with everybody. and use the taxes and licensing fees....but nobody knows where the money goes...maybe to crossrail to just hundreds of unless bereaucrats at cityhall
lets hope a bomb doesnt go off one day infront on tigertiger god forbid!! but with these corrupt muppets u never know...
LTDA, RMT, TWIT LTDF UNITE
some inside information there was a serious shortage on black cabs passing the knowledge last year 2009 because apparently the 56 stage of the knowledge is congested with part time knowledge student unable to reach the grade to progress....
ReplyDeletehence if this problem is addressed and i know TFL reps have already contacted knowledge schools in London for a new & improved fast track knowledge course designed for full time students...
then the 1 strike & your out policy can be properly introduced...evening numbers...increasing black cabs & reducing dangerous PHV
do you think when the world comes to London in the olypics people want to use a ropey taxi service like mexico city or a professional world known taxi service that should be celebrated....!!!
beep beep driving down oxford st "want a mini cab"...lol???
what a calamity....
The only problem the London taxi trade suffers from is a lack of supply around 7 hours per week. Approx 3 hours on a Friday night and 4 on a Saturday.
ReplyDeleteHowever passengers need to repsect taxi-cab drivers and some passengers are just drink and drug fuelled and it wouldn't matter how many taxis were on the street you wouldn't nor would you be fit enough to get in one.
It's time for taxi-cab drivers to work in larger numbers on Friday and Saturday nights and it's time for people to cut down on the drink and the drugs.
Has for mini-cabs if you want one book one....but remember thay shouldn't be touting outside on the street.
but mr (or mrs) anon it is not a 'service' from PHV's it is illegal activity. If punters have an accident they are uninsured.
ReplyDeleteIf cab drivers (real ones) got some real protection from the authorities them more would fight the tide and stay out.
Mr Mason, Mr Royle talk is cheap.
thats right safety paramount!!
ReplyDeleteout with dangerous PHV and in with a fast track knowledge to increase nighttime black cabs....
then everbody will be happy apart from that money grabbing, slave driving Grif Adi Lee....
did you know they have the highest turnover of drivers in PHV industry?? shame the press doesnt speak to adi lee drivers themselves...no...but we do see griffin giving his millions away to a secret millionaire
yes Travis agreed however as you know we cant rely on those authorities anymore...as control of the black cab trade has been moved away from the MET police...
ReplyDeleteHence we have to fight our corner whatever the environment....i think this is too defeatest a attitude hence PHV are running amok
when the few fight!!!... the masses will join!! then is WHEN & ONLY WHEN the problem will truely be highlighted by those few brave cabbies and news crews willing to give us coverage!!!
lets the protests and organisation cont....great work and i think word is already spreading
any 1 else agreed on here??
>“Lets hope that where DaC lead others will follow.”<
ReplyDeleteNo let’s hope NOT. Rice is only supporting this to make out he is the a leader of the fight against minicabs.
Form a rank and fight back and try to claim back the work that Rice puts in minicabs at DaC’s major accounts. Rank there and block in Rice’s minicabs and see if DaC puts out assistance messages and supports that!!!!!!
Get real, Rice is the enemy within.
We must also thank the drivers and dispatchers of Dial A Cab, who graciously put out messages and updates last night. Lets hope that where DaC lead others will follow.
ReplyDeletereads a bit difference when read in context.
Brian Rice, is not Dial a Cab.
Dial a Cab is the drivers, the subscribers and the journeymen, the dispatchers and the office staff.
Over one third of our trade is on a radio circuit. Most of these circuits have dodgy dealings with Private hire partners.
Do we castigate over one third of our trade for the actions of a few board members?
or do we win over their hearts and minds and try to get them to change from with in?
